Robot Shop
I was tasked with creating a unique board game for kids along the theme of robots, and thus Robot Shop was born. I wanted something that was easy for kids to play without adults, but also fun enough for parents to join in and not be secretly bored to tears. The end result, which we play tested in-house and refined, struck a good balance between ease of play and enough card variation and randomness to give the game a lot of replayability and shelf life. It’s great for plenty of laughs and friendly chaos as players watch their robots go careening around the mechanic’s shop, bouncing off walls and each other, getting zapped in the rear by lasers, slipping on oil slicks, and more. It’s also designed to help improve kids’ spatial awareness/visualization and strategic thinking.
